Important Community Board 6 Meeting regarding Red Hook’s future – public encouraged to show up tomorrow

Landmarks Land Use Committee Meeting

December 22, 2016

MEETING AGENDA:

PUBLIC HEARING on 280 Richards Street (BSA Cal. No. 2016-4299-BZ).

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

Discussion and formulation of a recommendation on an application submitted to the Board of Standards and Appeals on behalf of Thor 280 Richards Street, LLC for the grant of a special permit pursuant to Zoning Resolution Section 73-44 to permit a reduction in the accessory off-street parking requirement for Use Group 6B office use (PRC-B1), which will facilitate the development of an approximately 638,607 sf commercial building with office and retail uses that will provide 1,106 accessory parking spaces at 280 Richards Street (Block 612, Lot 150), in an M3-1 zoning district.

As reported in the Star-Revue and elsewhere, Thor Equities has a history of presenting a plan to the public in order to get zoning changes and then selling off the entire project (see this article about Sitt’s purchase and sale of the Albee Square Mall about 10 years ago).

Whether you support this project or not, the question of whether Sitt intends to build the development for which he is seeking this parking variance should impact CB6’s decision. Come to the meeting to make sure diligence is done.

MEETING LOCATION:

Miccio Center
110 West 9th Street
Brooklyn, NY 11231
(Clinton & Henry Streets)

MEETING TIME:
6:00 PM
