Updated – UPK application period extended

NEW YORK CITY COUNCIL MEMBER
CARLOS MENCHACA | 38th District
Dear District 15 Families:
Earlier today the Department of Education announced that seven new pre-k classrooms at the former Bishop Ford High School would immediately provide over 100 seats to school district 15 families.
After working closely with the Mayor’s Office, the Dept. of Education, and Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, I am proud to announce an extended lottery enrollment process that will begin Tuesday August 26th and conclude September 2nd.

Application site: Families who reside in District 15 may apply at P.S 10 (511 7th Ave, Brooklyn NY 11215)Date & Time: 9AM – 3PM – Tuesday August 26th through Tuesday September 2nd. Evening hours will be held on Thursday August 28th from 6 – 9PM at a location to be determined.

Must bring: your child along with two proofs of District 15 residence, 2010 birth certificate, and a vaccination card.

This important revision will ensure that working families have fair access to these new seats. Moreover, the additional days allow us to engage in the kind of coordinated outreach campaign that will let us reach residents with technology and language access barriers.
I commend the Mayor and the Department of Education for extending these much-needed pre-kindergarten opportunities.
